PCCO in concert Sunday

ALMA – The Pictou County Community Orchestra will present their Spring Concert this Sunday, May 29 at 7 p.m. at Green Hill-Alma United Church.

Under the baton of conductor Ken Henderson, the orchestra will perform “Symphony #97” by  symphonic composer, Franz Joseph Haydn. Also included in the program are “Ouverture” (Hummel), “Intrada” (one of Mozart’s earliest orchestral compositions), a Scarlatti “Sonata” (K406) and the well-known “Light Cavalry Overture” by Franz Suppé.

Tickets for this varied  program are available from orchestra members or at the door, priced at $10 or $25 for a family.

The PCCO is an amateur inter-generational orchestra drawing players from Pictou, Antigonish, Colchester and Halifax counties and has presented up to four concerts a year for nearly three decades. Players include students, seniors and “in-betweens”, and the current age range is from nine to 90-plus years.

The group rehearses weekly (except for June, July and August) and welcomes players of all ages and levels of experience.
