NEW GLASGOW – Traffic will be re-routed downtown this weekend for two events.
On Saturday, Aug. 27, Provost Street from Dalhousie to MacLean streets will be closed to vehicle traffic from 3:30 to 11 p.m. to accommodate the New Glasgow Farmer’s Market event Market to Main Street.
Traffic will be detoured to Riverside Parkway from a portion of Provost Street via Dalhousie Street (near the town hall). MacLean Street will remain open for access to Archimedes Street. Riverside Parkway also remains open. There is also access to parking via Riverside Parkway at both the Glasgow Square Parking lot and the parking lots near the New Glasgow Farmers Market building. Access is available to the New Glasgow Marina via George Street Bridge and Riverside Parkway.
On Sunday, Aug. 28, Provost Street, Archimedes Street, Jury Street and a portion of George Street (between Provost and Archimedes streets) will be closed from 5 a.m. until 4 p.m. for the second annual bike race, Critz of Fury. There will also be no parking on Provost and Archimedes streets.
The event, however, is spectator friendly and there will be pedestrian access throughout the downtown core. Parking will be available in the free parking lots near the New Glasgow Farmers Market building and there will be access to these lots via Riverside Parkway.
