To the Editor:
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Pictou County Fuel Fund, I would like to express our deepest gratitude for the support we receive from the Pictou County Council of Churches. Without support of the Council, we would not be able to serve the individuals and families of Pictou County who find themselves in need of financial support to heat their homes.
Our services are being administered by Pictou County Crime Prevention. They are replacing the Pictou County Help Line, who closed their doors in May. Information about the Pictou County Fuel Fund, and how to access our service can be found on our website at http://www.pictoucountyfuelfund.ca/
We are preparing to launch our giving campaign in early November, and we are asking for support once again. Last year, we provided fuel to almost 250 families in urgent need of fuel. Due to the economic circumstances in Pictou County, we feel that we will be called upon to support at least this many families this coming year.
Envelopes will be distributed to Council of Churches for distribution to the congregations in the upcoming month. Mrs. Shirley MacKay, a member of the Council of Churches, and a member of the Pictou County Fuel Fund, will be co-ordinating the distribution of envelopes and can be contacted for support by any congregation requiring information.
Chair, Pictou County
