Major Midgets fall in OT

The Pictou County Weeks Major Midgets have fallen further in the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey league standings.

Pictou County squandered a hat trick by Gerald Blackmore and a 3-1 second-period lead as they lost 5-4 in overtime to the Halifax McDonalds in a game that was re-scheduled from January 8 due to poor weather conditions.

Riley MacInnis also scored to give Pictou County a 4-2 lead in the third period before Halifax tied the game in regulation and won it in overtime.

The loss followed two weekend games for the Major Midgets.

Blackmore scored twice in the Pictou County Weeks Major Midgets’ 6-4 setback against the first-place Cape Breton West Islanders on Saturday  at the Wellness Centre.

Kevin Mason and Bryce Reynolds also scored.

Kevin Mason notched three goals and Jaden Mason, Carson Lanceleve and Riley MacInnis added one each in a 7-6 loss to the Steele Subaru Major Midgets on Sunday.
