Teachers rallying outside Legislature today

County teachers will join their counterparts from across the province today in a rally in Halifax.

Teachers rallied and picketed all night / overnight outside Nova Scotia’s Legislature last night, and will continue to rally and picket outside Province House throughout the day today as the Legislature continues to sit to debate Stephen McNeil’s anti-teacher / anti-union Bill 75, which eradicates fundamental Charter-protected Collective Bargaining rights from teachers and imposes a contract that has been repeatedly and overwhelmingly rejected.

Thousands of members of the Nova Scotia Teachers’ Union are now making their way across Nova Scotia to Halifax on buses from Cape Breton and other parts of the province. Rallies and pickets will continue at the Legislature until the end of the day, with a mass rally to take place from noon to 3 p.m. today.
