PICTOU — Assault charges against the CEO of the Pictou County YMCA have been dropped.
The assault causing bodily harm case against Dave MacIntyre was called in Provincial Court on Monday morning and, although MacIntyre was not present, his lawyer, Craig Clarke, appeared for him.
Crown attorney Patrick Young officially withdrew the final of the two original charges MacIntyre faced. He was originally charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of assault causing bodily harm. The count of aggravated assault was dropped during his last appearance on February 21.
MacIntyre was charged following an incident that took place on or about January 31 in Broadway, Pictou County. Police say the alleged victim was treated in hospital.
After dropping the final charge, Young stated, “There was no realistic prospect of conviction.”
MacIntyre has been on a voluntary leave of absence from his position.
