PICTOU — Pipes of War — Vimy Ridge will be presented at the deCoste Centre on Sunday, April 9, the 100th anniversary of the World War One battle.
The battle at Vimy Ridge in 1917 was a defining event for Canada, considered by many contemporaries and later scholars to be a significant event in Canada’s progress to full independence from Britain. More than 70 performers are joining their talents to pay tribute to Canada’s sacrifices and achievements at Vimy Ridge and to celebrate Canada 150.
Traditional and original music will blend throughout the evening ending with a grand finale not to be missed. Singers, dancers, and a concert band will join pipers and drummers to mark the 100 anniversary of the victory at Vimy. The show is being organized by NaGashGich Pipes and Drums.
Tickets are on sale at the deCoste Centre box office and at the door. Call 902-485-8848 for more information.
