Halifax – With the season of giving upon us, Eastlink is proud to support community fundraising efforts in communities across the Maritimes.

Over the past two months, local telethons like the Pictou County Christmas Fund and the Hants County Christmas Angels Telethon have raised over $178K.

“While we’re committed to supporting our communities year round, it is especially important during the holiday season when the need increases,” says Lee Bragg, CEO.

Debbie VanSickle, organizer, Pictou County Christmas Fund said, “For 43 years Eastlink has been a key component to the success of the PCCF telethon. Our partnership has enabled the fund to raise over a million and 1/2 dollars for our neighbours here in Pictou County. We are overwhelmed by Eastlink’s dedicated team and the long hours worked to help make our telethon the success that it has become.”

Bragg noted, “Community telethons play a vital role in bringing much-needed support to families this time of year. Our ability to broadcast these telethons via Eastlink TV is made possible thanks to the wonderful efforts of our community TV staff and volunteers.”

Community telethons televised on Eastlink TV include the Summerside Kin Christmas Appeal, Pictou County Christmas Fund, Christmas Mommies and Daddies in Aylesford, Hants County Christmas Angels Telethon, Digby Christmas Daddies Telethon, and the Papa Noel Telethon in Clare.

“One of the most meaningful ways we help our communities is by connecting local, charitable organizations with the rest of the community through activities like broadcasting telethons on Eastlink TV,” says Claudine White, regional sales and marketing manager. “It’s proven to be a very successful tool; we’re really proud of all that we’ve been able to accomplish in partnership with these communities.”

Eastlink helps raise over $3.5 Million for non-profit and charitable organizations across Canada each year.
