TRURO – The Pictou County Peewee AAA Crushers recently received silver medals at the Mike Schmitt Memorial minor hockey tournament held.
The Crushers were among six teams who played last Friday and Saturday in the Peewee AAA division.
They opened with a win in their first game against East Hants Penguins who currently sit in fourth position in their league.
The Crushers dominated the play during their second and third games with Strait Richmond Pirates and Cape Breton West Islanders, winning both handily.
These three wins advanced them outright into the championship game on Saturday which ended in a 5-3 decision with a familiar foe, the Antigonish Bulldogs.
The Crushers finished the tournament with a 3-1 record with 29 goals for and nine against.
They travel to the Valley this weekend to face Acadia for two league games and will host Chebucto Atlantics for an exhibition game at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Pictou County Wellness Centre.
The Crushers are scheduled to host Acadia for two games on January 14 at 2 p.m. at the Wellness Centre and at 5:30 p.m. at Hector Arena in Pictou.
