GOLLAN, Charles Edward


Gollan, Charles Edward – With family at his side, passed away at Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche, January 5, 2018. Charles was the husband of Gayle (Rafuse) Gollan and a son of the late James and Roseanna (Holmes) Gollan. Born in Melville on July 11, 1935, where he lived all his life, Charles farmed and was a fisherman for 52 years.  He worked as a steel worker for a number of years.  Charles loved to hunt, trap and snowmobile in his younger years, he enjoyed family get togethers and loved to play cards.  Charles was a member of the IOOF, Helping Hand Lodge # 34 in River John for 45 years.  Charles leaves behind his devoted wife, Gayle, of 53 years; daughter, Marcy (Charles) Elliott; grandchildren, Samuel Elliott and Olivia Elliott; sisters, Irene Patterson, Laura Elliott and Valerie (Bobbie) Langille; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.  He was predeceased by son, Troy; daughter, Annette; brothers, Donald “Bob”, David, Lloyd, Angus, George; sisters, Jessie Langille, Annie, Iola, Lilly (Farrel) Schooly and Zelna Johnson; sisters-in-law, Liz Gollan; brothers-in-law, Gordon “Toot” Langille, James Patterson, Rod Farrel, Bill Schooly, Gerald Johnson and Charles “Bugs” Elliott.  Cremation has taken place.  Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 in Coulter’s Funeral Home (902-657-3288), Tatamagouche.  Helping Hand Lodge will conduct a IOOF tribute service at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday in the Funeral Home.  A private family funeral will be held at a later date.  Memorial donations can be made to Willow Lodge Home for Special Care, Tatamagouche, where he resided for the last two months and to Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital where Charles received care in his life and support in his death.  Online condolences can be forwarded to the family by visiting Coulter’s Funeral Home website at: www.mmcfunerals.com
