New Glasgow Regional Police investigate stabbing

NEW GLASGOW – Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred in the early morning hours today.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. this morning, New Glasgow Regional Police responded to a 911 report of a stabbing at a residence on Brother Street.

A-19 year-old man was injured with serious non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Aberdeen Hospital by Emergency Health Services after being stabbed to the upper body with a knife.

The incident involved a disturbance at the residence where both victim and accused were known to each other.

The New Glasgow Regional Police immediately arrested a 18 year-old Pictou County female near the scene where she was taken into custody. She will be held in custody overnight and will be appearing in Nova Scotia Provincial Court in Pictou on Monday morning and will be charged with the following: aggravated assault, possession of a weapon dangerous and breech of an undertaking.

The investigation is ongoing and New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit and New Glasgow Forensic Identification Section continue to investigate.
