Public meeting

A public meeting has been called in Wentworth for Saturday, February 10, at 3 p.m. to deal with concerns over how potential industrial developments might impact the area’s eco-tourism potential. 

Scheduled speakers include Joan Baxter, author of “The Mill – Fifty Years of Pulp and Protest”, on clearcutting; Gregor Wilson of Ski Wentworth on visions for sustainable four-season tourism; Yuill Hebert of Sustainable Northern Nova Scotia on mining concerns, Karen Henderson of Folly Lake Wentworth Valley Environmental Preservation Society on wind power developments and Raymond Plourde, Wilderness Coordinator Ecology Action Centre, on how the forestry could be managed and why. 

The meeting is being sponsored by the Wentworth Firemen’s Recreation Association to provide information to the public and look at what can be done. 

The meeting will take place from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at the Wentworth Recreation Centre, 13752 Highway 4, Wentworth, Nova Scotia.
