A UK perspective on the Maritimes

For a taste of the UK and a new perspective on the Maritimes, James Mullinger promises a night full of laughs this coming Friday during his show at Glasgow Square.

This show marks his second time making his way to Pictou County to show off his brand of standup comedy. Mullinger said he jumped at the chance to return because “it’s a beautiful place with great people.”

Mullinger said, “My show is mostly made up of true life stories about what it’s like to leave a media career in London, England and move to the Maritimes. I love living here and the past four years living here have been the happiest times of my life but I do find lots of humour here which is what I like to talk about. I am also a husband and a father of two boys aged 7 and 4 so that gives me plenty of material.”

One of his favourite jokes to tell shows his love for the Maritimes as he explains his observations on how people in the Maritimes give directions. It’s a bit that is certainly relatable to Pictou County residents.

Having made his way from the UK and now living in New Brunswick, Mullinger enjoys performing for audiences in Atlantic Canada.

“Audiences come out for a good time. There is no cynicism there. But that goes for everything here. The Maritimes is the best place in the world because it’s the most beautiful and there is a true and real sense of community here that doesn’t exist in England. People in the Maritimes are kind and friendly and funny. I love it here and I will never live anywhere else,” he said.

From being featured on CBC radio to having a new stand up special called ‘Anything is Possible’ being released on Blu Ray this week, Mullinger has a world of experience and humour to keep the audience laughing.

“I guarantee you will be laughing for 90 minutes,” he added.

Tickets are available at Glasgow Square.
