WESTVILLE — The Trenton I Steelers continued their successful minor hockey season by winning the 2018 Bradley Crowther Memorial Midget C minor hockey tournament on Sunday in Westville.

Jarrod Francis scored three goals, while team captain Brennan Moss, Isaac MacDonald and Ethan MacIvor also scored for the Steelers in their 6-3 victory over the TASA Ducks in the championship game.

The win was another milestone for the Steelers, who will host a regional playoff game starting at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday in Trenton in their quest to reach the provincial finals.

Coach Robert Roper said he was pleased with the team’s performance.

“They’ve been playing well and they played a good game today,” he said after the win on Sunday.

The Steelers reached the final by blanking the Pictou Maripacs 2-0 on goals by MacIvor and Carter Hatfield.

The Ducks advanced by shutting out the Stellarton Royals 2-0.

MacDonald’s four goals led the Steelers’ 6-1 victory over the Thorburn Golden Hawks II. Hatfield and Liam Kennedy also scored.

MacDonald and Jacob Roper each scored twice in the Steelers’ 4-3 win over the Bedford Canadiens.

The Steelers also defeated TASA Storm 6-3.

The Maripacs opened the tournament on Friday with a 4-3 victory over the host Westville Miners on goals by Brady Bowering, Jack Marshall, Cole MacDougall and Evan MacCarthy.

Bowering, Marshall, Edward Roberts and Ethan Dewar scored as the Maripacs followed by defeating the Dartmouth Huskies 4-2.

Roberts assisted on both goals by Josh Graham in the Maripacs’ 2-0 win over Westville.

The Royals got four goals from Cameron MacCallum and one each by Kolby Gennie and Jarrod Nauffts as they tied the Bedford Oilers 6-6.

MacCallum fired four goals and Logan MacKay added three as the Royals shutout the Eastern Shore Mariners 11-0. Dustin Redmond, Dylan Sharpe, Nauffts and Gennoe also scored.

MacCallum, MacKay, Redmond and William Cochrane led Stellarton’s 4-2 win over the TASA Warriors.

Keegan Martin triggered four goals for the Thorburn Golden Hawks I in a 6-0 win over the Amherst Ramblers. Skylar Coady and Matt Munroe got the Hawks’ other goals.

Lucas Cameron, Kyle Reim, Druhan Dunn and Mitch Jardine scored in Westville’s 4-1 win over the Huskies.

Cameron, Jachob Greene and Jeff Allen scored Westville’s goals in a 3-1 win over Dartmouth.

Tyler Foote, Blake Fraser and Josh Cooley scored for Thorburn I in a 4-3 loss to the TASA Hitmen.

The Steelers C.E. went 2-1 in their three games in the tournament.

Angus Roy scored twice in their 4-3 win over the Golden Hawks I. Ryan Farrell and Zach Jones also scored. Martin, Cameron MacLean and Bryce Thompson scored Thorburns’ goals.

Roy scored in the Steelers’ 3-1 loss to the Hitmen.

Clark Robertson scored twice in the Steelers’ 4-1 win over Amherst. Jones and Zach Baillie also scored.

Hunter Fitzpatrick scored in Thorburn II’s 2-1 loss to the Canadiens.
