RCMP investigates threats towards school

MONASTERY – Antigonish District RCMP is investigating after it was shared on social media that individual(s) were heard making verbal threats towards the East Antigonish Education Centre/Academy in Monastery.

As a result of the threats and after consultation with the RCMP, the Strait Regional School Board closed the school today as RCMP continue their investigation.

Antigonish District RCMP is asking for the public to assist with this investigation. Police are asking anyone who has information about these on-line threats to call them at 902-447-2525, or 1-800-803-RCMP (7267). Should you wish to remain anonymous, you can also contact Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submit tips by Secure Web Tips at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca. Calls to Crime Stoppers are not taped or traced and if police make an arrest and lay charges based on a tip, callers qualify for a cash award.
