Local chocolate company personalizing Easter treats

Things are just a little sweeter this time of year with Easter just around the corner and Chapel Cove Chocolates is spreading the joy and chocolate around Pictou County and beyond. The small chocolate company from Little Harbour is creating delicious chocolate eggs, personalized with names for this year’s Easter celebrations.

This marks the third year that Allan Keefe, owner, chocolatier and creative mind behind the chocolate company will be offering a personalized touch to the traditional treat. With a half a pound of real chocolate in either milk or dark chocolate with white chocolate writing the eggs add a personalized touch to the holiday.

Keefe has been sending chocolate all over the map lately with some of the personalized eggs traveling the globe to places like Texas and Massachusetts and other parts of the province as well.

Along with the personal eggs Keefe also has traditional Easter bunnies, small chocolate eggs and barnyard animals like lambs.

“You always have to be doing something new to keep people coming back,” said Keefe. He added that one of the big draws for the Easter treats is the inclusivity that the chocolate allows for those with dietary restrictions. Keef’s chocolate is not only gluten free but also egg free, wheat free and Halal, he is currently working on becoming soy free as well.

Chapel Cove Chocolate can be found at the New Glasgow Farmers Market, Crossroads Country Market, Pictou Lodge, Zeldas Flowers or by searching the name on Facebook.

The personalized eggs are a blast from the past, Keefe said about the treat. Many of his customers remember their own childhood holidays when they see them.

“People love it, they remember them from when they were kids,” he said. “so we have grandparents getting them for their grandkids.”

Allan Keefe packages up some of his chocolate eggs that are ready to ship out to customers from all over.
