The Routes to Riches Race, a fundraiser for Pictou Co. Roots for Youth, is taking place on July 14.
The start/finish line is behind Roots House at the Pictou Co. Gymnastics Club at 558 South Frederick Street, New Glasgow (the old YMCA building). Teams will check in from 9 a.m., and the starting bell will sound at 10 a.m. sharp.
This is the third year of the Routes to Riches Race, which is a local version of the popular TV series, The Amazing Race. There are teams of people in motor vehicles following clues to unique destinations throughout Pictou County. At each destination, teams receive a task to complete. Upon successful completion of the task, they receive a green sticker in their passport which allows them to proceed, and are given a clue to the next destination. If they are unsuccessful, they receive a red sticker and are hit with a time penalty, but may still proceed to complete the race.
The day concludes with a barbcue and prizes at the start/finish line.
To register, teams are encouraged to visit www.pictoucountyrootsforyouth.com or call (902) 695 3241.
