ABERCROMBIE — A trade by the MHL Pictou County Weeks to acquire Malcolm MacEachern last week coincided with the annual Weeks celebrity golf scramble.

MacEachern was acquired from the Edmundston Blizzard for two 2020 draft picks and future considerations.

The right-winger from the Cape Breton West Islanders is 6’1” tall and weighs 185 pounds. He hails from Long Pond, N.S.

“He’s a three-year guy who wants to be a Crusher,” said Crushers assistant general manager Chad McDavid. “You want kids who want to be here and we’re getting him at a low cost. We’re pretty excited to get him.”

McDavid was among players in the sold-out golf tournament that will mark 25 years of operation in 2019.

The Weeks Hockey Organization operates the scramble, with proceeds going to the organization’s activities that include funding its bursary program.

Marty Malcolm co-chairs the organizing committee with Ed MacLaren.

“It was a great day and much of the success of the event is due to the volunteers,” Malcolm said. “It was another sellout and we got great weather. You can’t ask for much more than that.”
