The Tatamagouche Source Water Protection Committee will meet at the Tatamagouche Fire Hall, 201 Main Street, Tuesday, August 21 at 1:30 p.m. to render a decision regarding seeking or not seeking “Protected” status for the French River Watershed.

Sustainable Northern Nova Scotia (SuNNS) has informed the Municipality of Colchester, Tatamagouche Source Water Protection Committee, of a possible avenue to protect the only supply of clean water for the town of Tatamagouche.

Currently the French River Watershed is under threat of contamination from gold mining exploration and development in the Warrick Mountain Exploration Enclosure Area. With over 450 petition signatures SuNNS members believe the citizens have spoken loudly about the desire to protect the municipal water supply of Tatamagouche.
