CENTRAL WEST RIVER – A quantity of cocaine was seized from a PEI man here on Monday.
On September 17, Pictou District RCMP received a complaint of a suspicious man at a store in Central West River. Police attended the location and the investigation resulted in a 33-year-old man from Charlottetown, PEI being arrested for an outstanding arrest warrant.
He was searched incidental to arrest and police located and seized a large quantity of powder cocaine was found in his possession. Further investigation revealed that he had been involved in a vehicle collision earlier in the morning in Colchester County.
Police obtained a warrant to search the vehicle, and as a result of the items seized, have charged him with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Pictou Provincial Court on November 5.
The investigation is ongoing.
