Major Bantam Bombers host two tilts

The Pictou County Wear Well Bombers will host two games this weekend to wrap up their December schedule in the Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League.

The Bombers will host the East Hants Rangers at 4 p.m. on Saturday and the Antigonish-based Novas at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday at the Pictou County Wellness Centre.

The game against the Rangers was previously scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

The Bombers and Rangers are tied for sixth place in the league standings.

The Bombers have won two of three games in December after going 2-3 in November.

The Bombers played one game last weekend in Truro and came away with a 3-2 victory over the Bearcats on a winning goal by Lucas Fanning.

Kiefer Avery and Tanner Steele also scored for the Bombers, who outshot Truro 23-19.

All the goals came in the third period.

Canning, Avery and Landon Sim continue to lead the Bombers’ offence.

Canning has 21 goals and 12 assists for 33 points to sit fourth in in the league.

Avery has 12 goals and 18 assists for 30 points to occupy sixth place and Sim has nine goals and 20 assists for 29 points for seventh spot.
