The Pictou County Weeks Crushers are viewing the MHL from a different vantage point this week.
The Crushers are in fourth place in the league’s South Division as they prepare to host the Truro Bearcats on Thursday at the Pictou County Wellness Centre.
They will visit the Amherst Ramblers on Saturday.
The Crushers have moved ahead of the South Shore Lumberjacks by winning two of their three games last week.
They sandwiched a 6-4 victory over the Valley Wildcats last Thursday at the Wellness Centre and a 1-0 triumph on Saturday over the host Yarmouth Mariners around a 5-4 shootout loss to the Lumberjacks.
Barrett Dachyshyn scored in the third period and Matthew Normore stopped all 30 shots he faced to collect the shutout against the Mariners.
The Crushers took 34 shots against the Mariners, while Normore improved his goals against average to 2.91.
Dachyshyn set up Evan MacLennan’s third-period goal that ended up being the winner on Thursday against the Wildcats, as well as Jake Martin’s empty-net goal with 35 seconds remaining.
Goals by Isaac Chapman, Ryan MacLennan and Evan Gallant helped the Crushers erase a 2-1 deficit in the second and give the Crushers a 4-2 lead.
Andrew Burden scored the Crushers’ other goal in the first period.
Two goals by Chase Ellis and one by Malcolm Genge helped the Crushers take a 4-3 lead against the Lumberjacks and salvage a point from the game on Friday.
Dachsyhyn scored in the first period and leads the Crushers’ offence with 13 goals and 23 assists for 36 points.
The Crushers will end January with games against the host Summerside Western Capitals on January 30 and the visiting Grand Falls Rapids on January 31.
