To the Editor:
I read in the Pictou Advocate recently about Pictou County’s 140th Birthday of Incorporation in 1879.
I would like to congratulate the Pictou Co. warden on their 140th anniversary; they have a lot to be proud of.
However, I would like to correct him on one point. The Town of Pictou was the first municipality in the county to be incorporated. The Town of Pictou was incorporated in 1873 a full six years before the County. In fact, they were not even second because the Town of New Glasgow was incorporated in 1875.
As I said earlier, Pictou County Council has a lot to be proud of over their long history and I know we are all proud of our history. Every municipality in Pictou County is very proud of their past, and rightfully so because all of Pictou County is a great place to live.
