CARIBOU RIVER — Living with vision loss will be the focus of a lunch and learn session being held in Caribou River.
Julie Martin will be speaking on the topic at the session scheduled for May 30 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Caribou River community centre.
Martin has been dealing with vision loss from an early age and will be inspiring participants in how to live a full life with diminishing vision. She is currently involved with Sobeys and in the process of having microchips implanted in the bottom of prescription bottles called “Script Talk” and is instrumental in getting electronic hand held magnifiers installed so that the font and contrast can be altered so people can read the labels on products. Martin is also working with the deCoste center to have volunteers be “vocal eyes.”
There are many other organizations that Martin is working with and she will bring along equipment that she uses on a daily basis.
