PICTOU — A theatre company that specializes in bringing local history to life will be hosting a one-day event at McCulloch House Museum on August 16.
A live history theatre company will take audiences on a one hour adventure through time titled “In Time”. Audiences will experience a full tour of McCulloch House, located at 100 Haliburton Rd., in Pictou, while interacting with the characters from the era. Audience members will assist the actors in solving urgent issues that can only be resolved with the audience’s help.
On this day, Isabella McCulloch, wife of Dr. Thomas McCulloch, is holding a gathering and there are some very important people invited, each with their own motives for attending.
People are invited to visit as a guest of Isabella and help her to support the party of this time, as well as the causes of her husband, Dr. Thomas McCulloch — a prominent teacher and minister in town. Or you could be a guest of Catherine McNabb, the wife of Joseph Howe, who has arrived with a political agenda of her own in mind. Perhaps you have been invited to support Rev. Kenneth MacKenzie, who opposes the Brandy election and is here to sway the opinion of others. Or you can visit to support Sam, the museum security guard who has to deal with all of the events that take place at the 1805 home.
The Live History Show runs all day, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Aug. 16. Audience members are given a briefing and a checklist and have one hour to go about the site to complete missions, tasks and clues, watch scenes and talk to characters — and get back to the start location before time runs out. Audiences set their own pace and enter at a start location and are given a choice of which character that they want to assist. The actors are in character and ‘animate’ as if they are really going through a day in the life. The cost is $5 per person.
