Albions host U-15 baseball finals

STELLARTON – The Stellarton Albions are preparing to host the 2019 Baseball Nova Scotia Under-15 championship this weekend at the A.N. Sample Field.

The Albions will play Truro at 1 p.m. on Friday in their first game.

Their next games will be on Saturday against the Hantsport Shamrocks at 9 a.m. and the Bridgewater Bulldogs at 2 p.m. 

The Albions finished the regular season in the Bluenose Baseball League’s Bantam AA Division with a record of 17-4. It was earlier reported that their record was 14-4 but it did not include games that had not been recorded in the league standings.

TheAlbions completed their season on Saturday with a 6-4 victory over the Clark’s Harbour Foggies.

Alex Cathcart was the winning pitcher.

J.D. MacKenzie was the winning pitcher in the Albions’ 10-8 victory on Friday in Truro.

The New Glasgow Sullivan Fuels are also playing in the provincial championship. Their preliminary games are being played at the Kinsmen Field in New Glasgow.

New Glasgow’s first game is on Friday at 5:30 p.m. against Hantsport and Saturday at 9 a.m. against Bridgewater and 3 p.m. against Truro.
