STELLARTON – A new police chief is joining the force in Stellarton.
Town Council made the announcement last night at the regular cuncil meeting.
The new chief is Mark Hobeck; he will join the force on September 30.
Hobeck is a former member of the Halifax Regional Police with 31 years of service and is the recipient of the 2014-2015 Halifax Regional Police Achievement award. He started in the Patrol Division as a beat officer and spent time as a community response officer, school resource officer, investigator and media relations officer.
“Stellarton has a long tradition of community policing and we are proud to have officers with a real connection to residents and businesses,” noted Mayor Danny MacGillivray. “We are excited to bring such an experienced police officer into this role, and into the Town of Stellarton.”
