Vision loss lunch & learn
May 30, 2019 –
Guest speaker for Caribou River's May Lunch and Learn will be Julie Martin speaking on “Living With Vision Loss”. Martin has been dealing with vision loss from an early age and will be inspiring us how to live a full life with diminishing vision. She is currently in the process of having microchips implanted in the bottom of prescription bottles called “Script Talk” and is instrumental in getting electronic hand held magnifiers installed so that the font and contrast can be altered so that people can read the labels on products. Julie is also working with the deCoste Center to have volunteers be “vocal eyes”. Julie is involved in much, much for for the visually imparied. There are many other organizations that Julie is working with and will also bring along equipment that she uses on a day to day basis. Come and listen to this knowledgable, positive, energetic person and learn how to “adjust our lives” and “live to the fullest” as we all reach an age where we are dealing with vision issues. Please call 902-485-6369 to register or email firstname.lastname@example.org so that we are able to plan appropriately for food. Please register any friends that may be coming with you.
