Funding available for local community projects
Wellness Fund applications are now available to community groups to support projects that aim to help people in Pictou County lead more healthy lives. These funds are distributed by the local Community Health Boards, with funding provided by the NS Department of Health and Wellness. Deadline for applications is midnight on Oct. 15. Community groups in Pictou County can apply to one or both local Community Health Boards, depending on the location of the project within the county. Applications are available online at www.communityhealthboards.ns.ca/wellness-funds or by contacting the local Community Health Board Coordinator, Lynn Langille at firstname.lastname@example.org or 902-324-0621.
Photographing the mills
Sept. 1 to 29, the Balmoral Grist Mill and the Sutherland Steam Mill will be hosting a display of images taken over the years by a variety of talented photographers. On September 1 there will be an opening celebration at the Grist mill from 2 to 3 p.m. with refreshments served and free admission to both museums all day.
The photographs are mix of both historical and contemporary images. See the museums through the lens of time and the changing seasons.

Country music jam
Lourdes classic country music jam, every Tuesday 6:30-9 p.m. at the Sister Catherine Steele Centre. Light lunch along with a 50/50. Admission is $5, no fee for players. For information contact Bernie McCarron at 902-928-0426.
