Obituaries

PRIEST, Alvin Wayne – 65, of MacDonald Street, New Glasgow passed away on May 19 in the Aberdeen Hospital. Born in Priestville he was a son of the late Edison and Ella (MacDonald) Priest.

Alvin was a resident of New Glasgow for the past 42 years. He was a retired employee of Michelin Tire. After retiring, Alvin enjoyed helping his brother-in-law Seymore doing forestry work. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow. Alvin enjoyed spending time with family, especially watching his granddaughters play hockey.

Surviving are his wife, the former Mary MacNeil; daughters: Tracy Purvis (John MacDonald) of MacLellan’s Brook, Tammy Priest (Trevor MacInnis) of Westville; granddaughters: Carlin, Garyn, Rogan and Hallie; brothers: Hector Priest of New Glasgow, Raymond (Pearl) Priest of Trenton, Russell (Wanda) Priest of Blue Mountain; sisters: Charlotte MacKeeman of Linacy, Jane Farrell (Jerry MacPherson) of Churchville, Vera Jean (Steve) Patterson of Elmsdale, Michelle (Phillip) Rector of Priestville. Alvin was predeceased by sons Billy and Jason, also a brother Gordon.  Funeral was held from the H.W. Angus Funeral Home chapel on May 22. Burial in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.
