PICTOU – For those who didn’t get enough last month, professional wrestling is returning to the Hector Arena this Saturday and all for a good cause.
A fundraiser for the upcoming Pictou Lobster Carnival, wrestling is sure to entertain all ages with talent coming from across the Maritimes to compete.
Last month’s event saw more than 500 fans witness a great night of wrestling action – including a main event match between Kowboy Mike Hughes and Riddick Stone for the Heavyweight Championship of PEI that ended in some confusion.
“From what I understand from the official, no clear winner was determined in that match,” states Ryan Mader, event organizer.
“To make things worse, another wrestler interjected himself into the fold causing quite a ruckus. Both competitors were past Lobster Cup winners and they will both be here June 18, though no rematch contract has been signed as yet.”
This event will also mark the third installment of the Lobster Cup, the annual tournament presented by the Pictou Lobster Carnival committee.
“This has become the tradition for the committee… get four top talents and put them in a tournament to determine the best,” explains Mader. “Word about the fans in Pictou has wrestlers from across the continent vying for a spot on this card.”
This event features The American Patriot, Riddick Stone and Kowboy Mike Hughes as well as Brody Steele, The Big Picture Chris Cooke and local wrestler Lincoln Steen.
“When we started with the wrestling, there were some concerns that it wouldn’t work. I think the community has spoken. They want it. The feedback from the community has been tremendous.”
Doors for the all-ages show open at 6 p.m. for advance ticket holders. Advance tickets can be purchased at various locations in Pictou and New Glasgow. Advance tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and children 12 and under. All rush tickets at the door are $15. Rush seating opens at 6:30 p.m. Bell time is 7 p.m.
