STELLARTON – Three games in one day proved too much for the Stellarton Royals, who bowed 7-0 to the Inverness Athletics in the Baseball Nova Scotia intermediate ‘A’ championship final on Sunday in Petit de Grat.
The Royals had to face Inverness immediately after shutting out the host Petit de Grat Red Caps 2-0 on pitcher Josh Fushtey’s four-hitter.
Blair Dewtie started the championship game after pitching the Royals to a 3-2 victory over the North Site Ramblers.
Dewtie allowed the Ramblers two runs in the first inning and shut them out the rest of the way. He started the championship game before being relieved by Fushtey.
The Royals opened their quest with a 5-4 loss to the Tri-County Rangers on Friday and followed that with an 8-1 triumph against the Weymouth Firebirds.
The Kennetcook Braves were also in the seven-team draw.
