Scotians hosting Pirates Sunday


TRENTON – The Pictou County Scotians will host the Strait Pirates at 7 p.m. on Sunday in Trenton in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League.
The Scotians will visit the East Hants Penguins today.

They hosted the Cole Harbour Colts last Sunday at the Pictou County Wellness Centre and suffered a 3-0 defeat.

It followed the Scotians 7-6 loss on Friday against the Strait Pirates in Port Hawkesbury.

The Colts scored once in the first period and twice in the third despite being outshot 45-36.

The Pirates outshot the Scotians 48-27 but needed a goal with 1:08 left in the third period to pull out the win.

Goals by Brendon Duff, Jacob Pentz and Luke Spicer wiped out a 6-3 deficit for the Scotians in the third period.

Ryan MacDonald tallied for the Scotians in the first period, while Jared Livingstone and Jaron Belivar scored in the second. Blair Dewtie had three assists.

The Pirates edged the Scotians 7-6 on Sept. 11 in a pre-season game at the Wellness Centre.
