CYR, Raymond Joseph (Cricket)

CYR, Raymond Joseph (Cricket) – With his devoted and loving wife Linda by his side, Ray passed away at home in Dundas, Ont., at age 69 on Saturday,  September 24, 2016.

Diagnosed with brain cancer four years ago, he stoically underwent surgery, radiation and chemotherapy to lengthen his life and our family was blessed to have him home in Pictou for the past three summers for family reunions. Ray was the second oldest child in a family of 10 children to the late Arnold and Bessie Cyr.

He left Pictou at an early age with friends to work in Toronto in the transportation business. Living in the Port Credit/Burlington area, he was happy raising a family of three children and being a substitute father to his siblings when they ventured to move to Toronto. His home and heart were always opened to family and friends who needed a place to stay while making life adjustments.

In his younger days he was known to be a good snooker player and then motorcycling and golfing became his passion both in Ontario and Florida, with Linda by his side.  He enjoyed coming home to see family and friends at Lobster Carnival time and admired the fact that Pictou never changed, much unlike the rapid urban development of Burlington.

To deeply mourn his loss are his wife and best friend of 50 years, Linda (Beaudoin); sons Danny (Andrea Brocker), Rick (Maria) and daughter Deanne Lewandowski (Rafal); five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also his siblings, Donnie (Lucy), Doris Scanlan (Paddy), Mary Boulter (John), Eileen Lee (Richard), Joan Williams (Bruce MacLean), Victor, Jerry, Ivan (Urszula) and Richard (Valerie) as well as many nieces, nephews, in-laws and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, Arnold and Bessie Cyr and brother-in-law Reid Beaudoin.

According to his wishes, he has been cremated and his ashes will be spread on his favourite golf course as well as in Pictou with his parents.†
