Major Midgets hosting Pink in the Rink game


The Pictou County Weeks Major Midgets are hosting a Pink in the Rink game on Saturday during their scheduled game with the Kensington Wild at the Pictou County Wellness Centre.

The game will start at 8 p.m. and will be televised on Eastlink.

The Pink in the Rink designation confided with donations in support of breast cancer that will be welcomed at the door.

Weeks, who enter the weekend tied for fifth place in the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League, are coming off a successful weekend, having defeated the defending league champion Steele Subaru Major Midgets 3-2 in Dartmouth.

Goals by Kevin Mason and Riley MacInnis late in the second period gave Pictou County a 3-2 lead that stood up through the third period.

Bryce Reynolds gave Pictou County a 1-0 lead seven minutes into the first period.

Pictou County was outshot 27-22 over the game but enjoyed a 9-5 edge in the second period.

Mason is in a four-way for second place in the league’s individual scoring race with nine goals and eight assists for 17 points.

Jaden Mason and Gerald Blackmore each have 16 points.

Pictou County will host another interlocking game on Sunday at noon when they meet the Charlottetown Pride.

Any minor hockey players wearing their favorite hockey jersey will be admitted free on either day.
