GRANT, Gerald B.


GRANT, Gerald B. – 89, Pictou, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2016 in Ivey’s Terrace Nursing Home, Trenton.  Gerald was born in Scotch Hill, Pictou County, a son of the late George B. and Alice May (Heighton) Grant. Gerald (“Gerry” to the staff) was previously a resident of Shiretown Nursing Home in Pictou.  In his early years, Gerald raised chickens on the family farm in Scotch Hill.  He then moved to Ontario and worked for a number of years for the Department of Highways, before returning to Pictou to make it his home.  Gerald was a gentle man who had been very devoted to his parents.  He was very kind to friends and family and overall a very caring man.  He was also a member of First Presbyterian Church in Pictou.  Surviving are his brother, Aulden, Lake St. Peter, Ontario; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Grant, Abercrombie; and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sister, Jean (Mrs. John Chisholm); and his brother, George.  There will be no visitation or funeral service.  Interment Service will be held in Scotch Hill Cemetery on Thursday, November 17 at 11 a.m. with Jacquie Ross officiating. The family would like to extend thanks and give their appreciation to the staff at Shiretown, Ivey’s Terrace, and the nurses and doctors of the Aberdeen Hospital for the care they gave to Gerald. www.mclarenfuneral.ca †
