First snow storm brings power outages

The first snow fall of the season brought with it a mix of rain, thunder, heavy snow and power outages this past Sunday.

First estimated at 15 centimetres locally, the storm was downgraded to five centimetres, however, the strong winds and rain that arrived prior to the snow made for heavy snow and worsening road conditions as the day moved on.

Along with a number of motor vehicle accidents across the county, as of Monday morning, 5,175 customers across the province were dealing with power outages, approximately 1,950 of them in Pictou County.

Crews were working diligently to get the power back on with estimated times of 4 p.m. Monday afternoon.
