ABERCROMBIE – Members of the Pictou District RCMP are investigating a two-vehicle crash that has caused undisclosed injuries.
The RCMP responded with EHS and members of the Abercrombie and New Glasgow fire departments at about 11:30 a.m. to a collision between a car and a dump truck on the Trenton Connector near the intersection with Abercrombie Road.
The force expressed its thoughts for “the victim’s families at this difficult time” but provided no other details of possible injuries in its press release.
Cpl. Dal Hutchinson, media relations officer with the Halifax District RCMP later confirmed that the female driver of the car died at the scene, while there was no indication of injuries to the truck driver.
An RCMP traffic analyst is on the scene assisting with the investigation.
The car was completely destroyed in the collision, while the impact from the collision forced the truck on its side with its contents strewn on the road and along one shoulder.
The intersection was expected to be closed for several hours as the investigation continued.
