A Community Candlelight Vigil was held Tuesday evening at the Riverfront Gazebo in New Glasgow in memory of the six victims of the Ste. Foy, Quebec City shootings.
This vigil is a symbol of Pictou County Solidarity for the Muslim Canadian community and a gesture of sympathy, grief and resolve for peace, kindness, tolerance, dignity and respect for all. Remembered were Aboubaker Thabti, 44 yrs; Azzedine Soufiane, 57 yrs.; Khaled Belkacemi, 60 yrs.; Abdelkrim Hassane, 41 yrs.; Ibrahima Barry, 39 yrs.; Mamadou Tanou Barry, 42 yrs.
Prayers, brief remarks and the lighting of candles in remembrance marked the event.
