TRENTON – The Pictou County Scotians have taken sole possession of third place in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League’s Sid Rowe Division with a 1-0 overtime victory over the Antigonish Bulldogs on Monday in Trenton.
Scotians captain Brendon Duff scored a power-play goal in overtime to give them the win.
The win moved the Scotians within four points of the second-place Bulldogs and two points ahead of the fourth-place Strait Pirates.
As an overtime win, Scotians received two points instead of the three points awarded a win in regulation time. But the Scotians have two games remaining against the Cumberland County Blues on Friday in Springhill and on Sunday in Trenton.
The Bulldogs and Pirates have one game remaining, each team scheduled to meet the Junior Miners from Cape Breton.
The Scotians’ home game on Sunday will start at 7 p.m.
