Police charge a 63 year old driver after vehicle/pedestrian collision in a crosswalk

NEW GLASGOW – A 63-year-old has been charged following a collision in a crosswalk.

On Monday, Feb. 27 at approximately 6:35 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police, New Glasgow Fire Department and Emergency Health Services responded to a 9-1-1 call and attended the scene of a motor vehicle collision involving a dump truck and a pedestrian on Riverside Parkway.

Investigation determined the 57-year-old man was in the crosswalk on Riverside Parkway, when the 63-year-old driver of a dump truck travelling southbound collided with the pedestrian; he was transported by EHS to Aberdeen Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The driver was charged under the Motor Vehicle Act for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk which includes a fine of $697.50.

New Glasgow Regional Police continue to investigate.
