TRENTON – The Pictou County Scotians have extended their season.

The Scotians will face the Junior Miners of Cape Breton in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League’s Sid Rowe Division final series that will begin sometime this week. The schedule had not yet been determined at press time.

The Scotians advanced by burying the Antigonish Bulldogs 7-0 in Trenton last Friday to win their division semifinal in six games.

It was the first time the home team won a game in the series.

Gaetan Tremblay scored twice and the Scotians outshot the Bulldogs 30-22, scored three goals in the second period and added four in the third to win the game.

Ethan Snell added a goal and two assists, while William Kelly, Kale Mason and Brendon Duff each collected one goal and one assist. Ryan MacDonald also scored.

The Scotians retook the series lead when they got two goals each from Kelly and Riley Cameron and broke open a close game with three goals in the second period en route to a 5-1 victory over the Bulldogs on Wednesday in Antigonish.

Duff also scored for the Scotians in what was the fifth straight game in the series in which the road team has won.

The Miners swept their division series against the Strait Pirates in four games.
