TRENTON — Albion boxers are preparing for four weekends of events over the next month.
Cards are scheduled to be hosted on Saturday by Tri Town club in Cape Breton, June 10 by the Citadel club in Halifax, June 17 in Membertou and later in the month in Canning.
The Albion hosted its spring card earlier in May in New Glasgow.
The club is also celebrating awards that are being presented on Saturday in Halifax during sport Nova Scotia’s annual Ricoh award presentations.
Albion head coach Al Archibald is being cited as Boxing Nova Scotia’s volunteer of the year, while national medal-winning boxer Norma Marshall is being named female boxer of the year.
“It’s a great honour to get volunteer of the year,” Archibald said. “There are hundreds of volunteers in Nova Scotia. I’m really proud of Norma. She worked so hard and she deserves it. Getting two awards is amazing and it shows the progress with this program.”
