Left to mourn are his wife of 52 years, Marguerite (Martin) Shea; his children, Patti (Frank) Fardy, George (Andrea), Kathy (Brent) Melsted, and Dan (Erika); and his siblings, Myra (O’Callaghan) Ebbinge and Vern. He was very proud of his grandchildren, Xavier, Alvin & Robert Fardy, Dallis and Nick Shea, Jonah and Shanli Huckle, Jessica, Stephanie (Dustin) and Sara Melsted, and Reese, Riley and Keira Shea; also his many nieces and nephews. He retired from the service in 1989 and found his way home to Pictou where he worked for the Scott Paper as a Commissionaire. In recent years, he enjoyed his visits with his grandchildren, his “council meetings” at Tim’s with his coffee buddies, and his garden. Dad also liked to
keep tabs on the comings and goings from his front verandah. He will be sorely missed. The family extends their thanks to the Dr. Randy Burrill, the VON and EMS staff for their care over the last few years. Visitation was Tuesday, October 24th in the McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou.
