Boating accident claims life of 33-year-old man

Ballantynes Cove – A boating incident on November 7 has claimed the life of a Cape George man.

At 11:54 p.m. on November 7, Antigonish District RCMP responded to a missing person call at Ballantynes Cove Wharf Road. The caller reported a man had been out fishing, and had docked his boat, but the caller was not able to find the man.

RCMP officers met members of the North Shore Volunteer Fire Department and EHS at the scene. A search of the immediate area was conducted, and the body of the missing man was located in the water, near his boat. He was not wearing a life jacket when he was found. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Service will conduct an autopsy today, and the investigation is ongoing.
