The Pictou County Peewee AA Crushers swept two games from the Antigonish Bulldogs last weekend in Mainland Peewee AA Hockey League action.
The Crushers grabbed sole possession of first place by defeating the Bulldogs 9-3 on Saturday at the Pictou County Wellness Centre and 7-1 on Sunday in Antigonish.
Zachery MacInnis fashioned a hat trick and Wyatt Spence scored twice for the Crushers on Saturday.
Brennan Hood, John K Martin, Colby Nichol and Landon Steele had singles. Cole Thompson collected three assists, Martin and Steele added two apiece and singles came from Mac Wallace, Spence, Nichol and Hood.
Clint MacLaughlin led the Crushers with two goals on Sunday, while Ben Marchand, Wallace, Martin, Steele and MacInnis had singles.
Blake MacLennan had three assists, Levon Walst added two assists and MacLaughlin, Spence, Wallace, Hood and MacInnis had one each.
The Crushers’ goaltending team of Cole Battist and Jacob MacLeod continued to hold down the lowest goals against record in the league. The pair has only allowed 27 goals in 13 league games so far this season.
With the wins the Crushers have improved to 10-1-2 tallying for 22 points in the league standings.
The Crushers have a break from league action but are back at in Truro on December 29 participating in the Mike Schmitt Tournament.
