Two arrested for drug possession

Two New Glasgow residents were charged with drug possession in two separate instances on Tuesday.

At approximately 9:30 p.m, the Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit, with the assistance of the New Glasgow Regional Police, executed a search warrant at a residence on Skylark Street, New Glasgow, as part of lengthy investigation.  At this time, police seized a quantity of methamphetamine, cannabis marijuana, and cannabis resin.  Subsequently, police arrested a 37 year-old woman from New Glasgow.

Shortly thereafter, police completed a traffic stop of a motor vehicle on Main Street, Trenton.  As a result of this stop, police seized a quantity of methamphetamine and a prohibited weapon.  Subsequently, police arrested the 38 year-old male driver, also from New Glasgow.

The female has been charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, production of cannabis resin, possession of cannabis marijuana, and assaulting police.

The male has been charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, production of cannabis resin, possession of cannabis marijuana, and possession of a prohibited weapon.  Both remain in custody and will appear in court at a later date.
