PICTOU — A 36-year-old county resident was arrested and brought into the custody of Provincial Court on Tuesday morning from Halifax where he was found.
Shawn Daniel Bonvie is the accused in a robbery that took place October 12, 2017, at approximately 1 p.m. at a tavern on Stewart Street in New Glasgow where a lone suspect entered the bar and demanded a quantity of money. One staff member was present and was grabbed, assaulted and forced into a room. The staff member suffered minor injuries. The suspect then fled the tavern on foot with a quantity of cash. Police immediately responded and were assisted by Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit and Truro Police K-9.
From an October 5 incident, Bonvie has been charged with one count of impaired operation of a vehicle, as well as one count of operation of a vehicle while his blood alcohol limit was 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood.
He is also facing one count of robbery with violence, one count of unlawful confinement, one count of uttering threats and one count of sexual assault, all indictable.
Bonvie has been remanded by consent until March 26 for his next court appearance.
