PICTOU – The Fundy-Highland Selects have been denied a Hockey Nova Scotia Peewee AA female hockey banner.
Metro West Force White edged the Selects 1-0 on Sunday in the championship game at Hector Arena.
The Selects dominated most of the game but could not cash in any scoring chances.
Metro West Force White forced the game in the last seven minutes of the game and scored on a high, sharp-angle shot from the right side of the Selects’ net with 1:15 left in the third period.
The Selects pressed to tie the game and had a goal disallowed with 2.6 seconds remaining.
The Selects won all four of their preliminary games to advance to the championship.
Olivia Marks with two goals and three assists and Maddi Beson with two goals and two assists led the Selects’ opening 10-2 dismantling of the Metro East Inferno on Friday.
Rylon Biron, Elisabeth MacEachern, Willa Evans, Kenzie Greencorn, Josie Dunn and Julia MacDonald also scored.
Biron scored twice and assisted on the other two goals by Beson and Erin MacNeil as the Selects downed the Metro West Force Red 4-1 later on Friday.
Beson scored twice as the Selects topped Metro West Force White 4-1 in their first of two games on Saturday. MacNeil and Evans got the other goals.
The Selects opened a 2-0 lead in the first period and edged the Metro West Force Blue team 4-3 later on Saturday to stay unbeaten.
In other female championship hockey, the 4-0 Metro West Blue team met the 2-2 Fundy-Highland Selects in the Bantam AA championship game in Berwick on Sunday and defeated the Selects 3-1. Their third goal was into an empty net.
