Two arrested at checkpoints for impaired driving

Pictou County District RCMP have arrested a 25-year-old man and a 45-year-old man for impaired driving during the weekend. Both came through police checkpoints.

Shortly after midnight during the early morning of April 22, RCMP conducted a checkstop in Alma.  They observed a vehicle driven by a male approaching the checkstop.  Upon further investigation, the 25-year old driver from Sylvester was arrested for impaired driving.  He faces charges of Impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving with a blood alcohol level over 80 mg%.

Just after 8 p.m. on April 22, RCMP conducted a second checkstop in Haliburton.  A vehicle  approached the checkstop and further investigation resulted in the 45-year-old driver from River John being arrested for impaired driving.  He faces charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving with a blood alcohol level over 80m.

Both men are scheduled to appear in Pictou Provincial Court on August 7.
